NURTURING YOUR FAN BASE THROUGH BLOGS AND SOCIAL MEDIA

Every successful musician has a committed fan base, and this is exactly where he/she immediately goes to sell his music! It is really no different for any aspiring author committed to making a career from Global Book and Ebook Distribution.

What kind of difference would it make if you, an author, had a ready-made committed audience who trust you, follow your every move, and are eager to buy from you?  Well, for one thing, as soon as your latest book is launched, all you would need to do is send an email to your "fan club," and you will be more or less guaranteed to collect a healthy number of pre-orders for your book.  Effectively, this fan club are exactly what keep high profile authors (and musicians) so successful.

Unless you are some sort of super-human who doesn't require sleep, it's likely that there is always going to be some down time "between drinks". In other words, your books are not very likely to follow one another in very quick succession. So, how do you keep the interest and momentum of your supporters, while you are busily creating the next masterpiece?

This is where a blog and social media comes in. These two online tools allow your fan club to receive daily updates about your life, and whatever it is that makes you special. If you are a Kardashian, you can basically just post a picture of the side of your head for an enormous reaction. On the other hand, if you are a talented author on a specific topic/theme (such as health living), then it makes sense you share frequent tips and updates of your own "healthy living" on facebook, Instagram or your own blog.

You don't have to be hiking Mount Everest or doing something very exciting and special every time you post. The reality is that your fans are interested simply in the day to day how you incorporate small changes in your daily routine to lead a healthy and happy life. Swimming with the seals in Antarctica looks very interesting and fun, but your fans are less likely to relate to that, than they are to something easily accessible to them, like a beautiful walk on the beach at sunrise.

Everybody likes a good deal or special bonus offer, so you could also team up with another high profile person or company who offer a service or product that is of interest to your own supporters. Perhaps you could offer a discount on the price of a product especially for your fans, or some other fun bonus offer.

Don't forget to interact regularly with your supporters. There is nothing more exciting to someone than their "idol" acknowledging them simple thanks for their comment under your photo is enough for them to feel special. Remember- it's not all about you. You wouldn't be in business if it weren't for your fans, so show your gratitude regularly and don't take them for granted!

Then, when it comes time to launch your book, you won't be relying only on Global Book and EBook Distribution for sales.  Why? Well, because you already have a committed audience to sell to.  Authors tend to get very stressed about Book marketing/publicity, however, they don't realise that simply maintaining a quality blog and social media accounts during the entire creation and affordable self publishing process are more than half the battle.

If you don't have the time (or know-how) to create and update a blog or social media account, here at Publicious, we can help you with that too! Just ask.
