How To Write And Publish A Book
At last, a flexible face-to-face writing course that can be taught
in the comfort of your own home or at a Publicious venue
This course is for anyone who is considering or in the process of writing a book. It is delivered in a friendly relaxed manner by published author and Director of Publicious Andrew (Andy) McDermott who will act as your writing mentor throughout the duration of your study. The aim of this course is to supply writers of all ages and genres with the necessary knowledge required to write and publish a book.
Whether you're writing fiction or non-fiction, this course will cater for your needs, it will give you a basic understanding of the writing process from rough draft to finished manuscript, it will explain the importance of editing and rewriting, as well as your publishing options, and how to market yourself and your book.
The course is split into six parts and runs over a twelve week period with two weeks between each part allowing students plenty of time to complete the home assignments.

this course that works for you. Mornings, weekends, evenings? You decide. Or you might prefer to do the online
version of this course (see below).
Here is a breakdown of the course:
- Part One: An introduction and overview of the course, how to begin writing a book, how to create realistic characters and original storylines, how to research your topic. Getting started. Home Assignment 1.
- Part two: Review of Home assignment 1. Common errors made by novice writers, an introduction to creative writing, finding your voice, how to write the first chapter. Home Assignment 2
- Part Three: Review of Home Assignment 2. Narratives - active/passive, tenses, POV, description through dialogue, self-editing, the importance of professional editing. Home Assignment 3
- Part Four: Review of Home Assignment 3. How to hook your readers from page one, writing a prologue, beating writers' block.Home Assignment 4
- Part Five: Review of Home assignment 4. Writing a synopsis, writing a query letter,buddy writing. Home Assignment 5
- Part Six: Review of Home Assignment 5. Types of publishing, choosing the right publisher for your book, marketing your book, creating an author brand.

Mentorship Programs
Have you ever dreamt of having a writing mentor? Someone who will guide you through the stages of writing your manuscript, offering encouragement and immediate feedback on your story, your characters and your prose? Our mentorship programs are designed to do just that. Send your manuscript to Andy, receive a valuation and critique, one on one email and telephone support (fiction only).
Program 1 includes: initial review and critique of 50 A4 double-spaced pages of your manuscript, written report covering writing technique, plot and characterisation, common errors, story structure and goals, initial phone call to discuss your goals, and one month email support - $250.00.
Program 1 can be repeated using further material as often as you like - $200.00
Program 2 The Twelve Month Program: covering all aspects of creative writing, offering feedback and encouragement with the goal of polishing your manuscript to the highest standard. Submit your manuscript in twelve monthly segments (maximum 100 A4 double spaced pages per month) includes initial phone call to discuss your goals and twelve month email support - $1199.00
